Learn More About Mary

Mary L. Martinéz
Consultant
Pronouns: She | Her | Hers

“I am a white, heterosexual woman, who — though originally from a small, rural and homogeneous Northern town, came to thrive on the richness of cultural differences that has permeated my work and personal experiences. I have been changed by those I have encountered, and I hope always to continue to grow and learn from others. I #LiveInclusively by bringing a social justice and equity perspective to the workshops I facilitate; by the way I put into practice my deeply held spiritual beliefs — which include valuing each human being; and by weaving greater awareness of differing cultural experiences into my non-work interests, including art, literature, and history.”

Mary Martinéz is President of InclusionFocus LLC, which offers consulting and training in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion. Mary has more than 30 years of experience as an HR leader and consultant in talent and organization development, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion. She has held corporate roles for CIGNA, Honeywell, Sanofi, and Alcatel-Lucent, and has been a senior consultant and practice leader for ORC/Mercer and APTMetrics.

A frequent contributor to D&I publications and conferences, Mary has worked with senior business and HR leaders in both the profit and nonprofit sectors to spur cultural change through increasing the inclusion of organizational policies, processes, and practices. She has extensive experience in assessing DEI health and developing relevant strategies in response to the assessment results.

Her current focus is on cultural bias awareness and building intercultural competency as ways of increasing inclusion and equity, and on working with not-for-profit, educational and public sector organizations. She provides strategic and process consulting and conducts workshops in these areas. Mary is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI)®, as well as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)®.

She holds a B.S. in Education – English from the State University College of Oneonta (NY); a Masters in English from the State University of New York at Albany; and an M.B.A. in management–organization behavior from Bernard M. Baruch College, NYC.
