I am proudly from the Blackest city in the nation and a descendant of survivors of American chattel slavery. I am a first-generation undergrad and graduate school graduate from a working-class family. I am as soft as I am strong. I am Black Girl Magic, Black Hope and Black Joy personified. I am a storyteller and dreamer. I am direct, compassionate and curious. I am a reframer who troubles what we imagine when we think of a “professional.” I am a passionate dyslexic who is as brilliant and as bright as the colors and patterns I wear. I am a J.E.D.I. Tami Jackson is an Instructional Designer with The Winters Group, Inc. She creates customized learning experiences that engage and push learners towards solutions that advance diversity, equity, inclusion and justice within their workplaces, communities and themselves. Tami is passionate about creating content that engages and transforms learners by remaining intentional about centering the needs, shared experiences and perspectives of those who’ve been historically excluded — with special care towards Black women, femmes and others impacted by misogynoir.

Tami has close to 15 years of J.E.D.I. experience in various industries, including sports/entertainment, advertising, higher education, technology and real estate. In addition, she has been a facilitator and panelist at conferences, a guest on several podcasts, and provided mentorship to many first-generation Black college students.

Before joining The Winters Group, Tami served as a co-chair for the inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan for one of the largest real estate companies in the world. This plan set in motion a first-ever company-wide D.E.I. initiative that touched over 180k real estate agents and more than 400 employees. Nominated and awarded the 2020 Luminary Award by her peers for exemplary servant leadership, Tami worked as an Instructional Designer creating engaging, activity-based, and results-oriented learning solutions and instructor-led presentations. In addition, Tami made event and conference breakout content with an intentional diversity, equity and inclusion lens and co-created the first-ever DEI-based rubric and checklist tool for the utility of equity-focused content design across the organization.

Tami holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Languages and Cultures and American Culture, as well as a Master of Arts in Black Studies, focusing on Critical Race Theory, graduating with honors. Tami profoundly believes in the power and necessity of being one’s authentic self; a self-described plus-sized fashionista, make-up artistry enthusiast, and budding sneaker-head, she is deeply invested in the importance of dismantling the intrinsic link between anti-Blackness and fatphobia.

Tami has a deep love of the diversity of Black American culture and history, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reruns, 90s R&B, 80s action movies, and 70s soul. A devoted gamer and cosplayer, Tami holds a particular passion for action-adventure video games and other nerd-centric media.
