Tina Chapman DaCosta
Tina Chapman DaCosta has done extensive training and consulting in people-based leadership, coaching, corporate culture change, youth education, and diversity management. She has also conducted research studies in employee retention and culture audits. Ms. DaCosta has worked as a diversity consultant with The Winters Group supporting Eastman Kodak Company, Phillips Petroleum, Rochester Rehabilitation Center, The University of Rochester, and the US Virgin Islands Housing Authority.
Ms. DaCosta has been an educator in computing since 1984 at the University of Akron, Monroe Community College and is presently an assistant professor at Rochester Institute of Technology. Her research focus is on new ways to bring people and technology together that maximize human productivity and the use of information. Ms. DaCosta’s research area is the use of storytelling as a way to teach technology and the exploration of various media to deliver stories, e.g., web, theatre, oral, film, or text. Her patience, in-depth knowledge, and enjoyment of helping people reach their full potential has been recognized through letters and feedback from her students and clients. Ms. DaCosta was nominated for the RIT Eisenhart Award for Outstanding Teaching.
Previously, Ms. DaCosta worked for IBM in engineering, sales, and marketing. She conducted research studies and workshops with school superintendents, staff, and community representatives to help them build high functioning teams and design and implement district wide technology plans. She has also taught computer classes on networking and computer applications to over 50 companies and managed IBM’s North American direct marketing sales territory for RS/6000 computers. While at IBM, Ms. DaCosta received the Golden Circle Award for outstanding sales, Inroads Business Advisor of the Year, the Difference Maker Award, and several Marketing Excellence awards.
Ms. DaCosta has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Engineering, Product Development. She enjoys acting, writing, and spending time with her family in Rochester, NY.
